VET EMPOWERED // FIRST COHORT, SPRING 2027
The Vet Empowered
Coaching
Qualification
Accreditation pending. Built for the people of vetmed.
A coaching qualification for veterinary professionals who want to coach colleagues within their own workplace, with ongoing supervision from a qualified supervisor. The plan is to run the first cohort in Spring 2027. This is the list that hears first.
REGISTRATION NOT YET OPEN // ACCREDITATION PENDING // PRIORITY TO THIS LIST
02 // WHAT IT IS
Certified, accredited, and built for the workplace.
A formal coaching qualification for people working in veterinary workplaces who want to coach colleagues inside their own team. Properly assessed, and designed around a working rota rather than a business school timetable.
- A recognised qualification
- Accreditation is in progress with the bodies we want it from, and there is real assessment behind it. Not a weekend course with a certificate at the end.
- Coach the people you work with
- Built for coaching colleagues inside your own team, including the parts that make that complicated. Consent, confidentiality, holding conversations with people you also work alongside, and knowing when it is best not to be the coach.
- Ongoing supervision after you qualify
- Continued support from a qualified coaching supervisor. Standard practice in professional coaching, and almost never included in veterinary training.
- Resources and sessions to take back
- Materials and ready-made sessions you can run within your own workplace, so the learning does not stop with you.

03 // PROGRESS
This has been in progress for a while.
We did not want to announce it until we knew it could be done properly. Here is roughly where the work has got to.
DONE
Asked you what to build
It came back near the top of the list, and it kept coming up afterwards too.
DONE
Scoped the accreditation routes
We looked properly at what accreditation requires, and which route gives you a qualification that stands up outside the profession as well as inside it. We are working with a globally recognised coaching body, and we will name them here once it is signed.
DONE
Mapped the curriculum
Against the professional coaching standards, then again against what actually happens in veterinary workplaces, which is not always the same thing.
DONE
Sorted supervision
Claire will be your qualified coaching supervisor. She is completing her supervision qualification now, ready to supervise you at the end of the course.
IN PROGRESS
Confirming accreditation, format and dates
Nearly there. This is the part this list hears about first.

Pending
Accreditation. We are working towards it with the bodies we want it from, and we will name them here the moment it is signed. Naming them before that is exactly the kind of thing this qualification exists to move away from. This list will know the day it lands.
What we can say now: we are working towards accreditation with a globally recognised coaching body. In their own words, they are a leading, internationally respected professional body, most heavily recognised in the UK, Europe and parts of the Commonwealth, alongside a growing global footprint spanning over 80 countries. It is a respected coaching body, not a profession-specific badge, so the qualification should travel with you.
Still being worked out
- ?Exact dates and how the sessions are spread
- ?The investment
- ?How much is live and how much is self-paced
- ?How many places there are
Who we expect to invest
Our intention is that businesses and workplaces invest in this for their people, rather than individuals carrying the cost alone. Coaching capability inside a team is a long-term saving: better retention, better attention and engagement, less time and money lost to recruitment and sickness. There is a real return on the investment, and it stays in the team long after the course ends.
Some of the evidence for this sits on our resource: evidence.vetempowered.com
05 // PLACES
The first cohort is deliberately small.
Running the first cohort of a qualification well means keeping it small enough that everyone gets properly assessed, properly supervised and properly supported. That is the right call for the people in it, and it does mean there will not be many places.
To be clear, small does not mean in person. The majority of the teaching will be delivered virtually: pre-recorded content, live online sessions and assignments you complete in your own time. The photographs on this page are from our in person work over the years, not a picture of how this qualification will run.
Priority will go to the people on this list. There is nothing to pay and nothing to commit to by adding your name.

06 // WHY
Where this comes from.
OUR MISSION
We empower the people of vetmed to reconnect with themselves, reclaim their worth beyond their job title, and create lives that feel sustainable, meaningful and authentically human.
OUR VISION
A profession as kind to the people as it is to the animals: where understanding what it means to be human is valued as highly as clinical skill, and kindness is woven into the way we work rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Where every person in the team feels safe, seen and empowered as a unique, valuable individual.
Looking after the people was never separate from the patient care, it was always part of it. That is the whole reason Vet Empowered exists, and it is why a coaching qualification is the next thing we build. Coaching is how that mission stops being something people hear at a talk and starts being something that happens in the room, on a normal Tuesday, in a normal workplace.
We can only be in so many places at once. Training and qualifying coaches inside the profession means the support does not depend on us being there. It means more people who can hold a proper conversation with a colleague, and who have been taught how to do it well, with real skill and real boundaries.
07 // CLARITY
What this is not.
This is not therapy training.
Coaching is not therapy, counselling or crisis support, and this does not train you to provide any of them. A real part of the training is recognising when a conversation has stopped being coaching, and knowing what to do at that point.
This is not trauma processing.
The training is trauma-informed, which means understanding how someone's previous experiences shape how they show up in a conversation today. It is a stance, not a technique. You will not be trained to work with anyone's trauma, and you will be taught clearly why that boundary exists.
This is not a quick certificate.
There is assessment, observed practice, written work and real coaching hours behind it. It is a genuine qualification, which means it takes genuine effort.
This sits alongside, not instead of.
Coaching does not replace Vetlife, your practice EAP, occupational health or someone's GP. It works best next to them. Knowing which one a conversation actually needs is part of the training. You will also be connected to a growing group of veterinary coaching professionals, so if there is ever someone in your workplace it would not be appropriate for you to coach, there will be options further down the line to bring in somebody outside the team.
This is not a route to setting up on your own.
The intention of this qualification is to make coaching more accessible at workplace level and to normalise it as part of what happens in veterinary teams. It is not designed as a launchpad for individuals to go and start their own coaching businesses. There are lots of wonderful people already doing that work, and this is a different job.
This is not individual coach accreditation.
The accreditation we are working towards sits on the course itself: it means the awarding body recognises this as suitable, quality-assured coach training. You finish with a certificate of completion and you walk away able to coach, properly trained and supervised. Becoming an individually accredited coach is a separate application you make yourself, later, once you have the experience, supervision and coaching hours behind you. It is optional, plenty of people never need it, and we will show you the route if you want it. Either way, supervision is something we offer and encourage for everyone who qualifies.

- ?You are in the thick of your own burnout, in which case support comes first and training can wait
09 // TUTORS
Who will be teaching it.
Katie and Claire from Vet Empowered will lead the qualification, alongside a group of tutors we are genuinely glad to be working with: coaches, psychologists, supervisors and others who bring something we could not teach on our own.
Katie has been coaching in this space for nearly ten years, Claire for nearly seven, and we have run Vet Empowered together for six. In that time we have supported hundreds of veterinary professionals through our group programmes and one to one coaching. The word that comes back, time and time again, is life changing. This qualification exists to spread that impact further than the two of us can reach.
It is not just us. We have an extensive network of experts we will be bringing in for guest sessions, from clinical psychologists to other coaches and lecturers.
CONFIRMED
Katie and Claire, Vet Empowered
Leading the qualification and the supervision around it.
